The most comprehensive book published so far on iron crafts in western Asturias.

Result of fieldwork conducted by Pablo Quintana Lopez in the years before its publication, during which he met with many people directly involved in this field, covering both all workshops and pre-industrial processing facilities, archives, libraries and museums in a large area where there were data and information relevant to the investigation.

The book contains detailed and documented information of all processes carried out for the transformation of iron extraction from the mine and coal preparation, to the manufacture and marketing of the final work, together with the list of products produced in which acquires specific section drawing of the knife and the knife, artisan product whose fame transcends local boundaries. It is also complemented by in-depth studies on facilities and production facilities (foundries, forges and decks), techniques, tools of the trade, files containing data on all local blacksmiths, with the ratio of production, features, brands, etc.
