We must go back to the 18th century when Rafael Bustos Hellín worked with iron by hammering it on his anvil and hence his knowledge of it, to dare to make the first knife that was born from his hands. Three of his 4 sons continued the same trade as a razor for many years and in some cases even today, his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren follow or have followed the same trade.
The oldest of them, Santiago Bustos Navarro, set up his cutlery shop on Juan Domingo Street, in Santa Cruz de Mudela, with around fifty workers back in 1934, expanding it with a greater number of workers, according to needs, reaching up to 150 workers. in template. Sadly, Santiago passed away early, having built a booming business out of nowhere. His sons Santiago and Antonio Bustos Delgado continued with the factory, with the 11 Bustos brand.
Santiago also and both in unison built a machine to devastate the sheet, thereby saving many hours of work and effort of the worker, and there appears Santiago Antonio Bustos Valencia, -Rafael's great-grandson, Santiago's grandson, Antonio's son- who was interested in what his father and uncle did, he was there watching, learning and helping; typical of a teenager who began to be interested in training, perfection and detail.
Age does not forgive and when his father and his uncle retire, Santiago-Antonio, who had always remained in the factory; With his acquired knowledge, history, practice and advice, he follows the family tradition and continues with the same trade in order to be able to make his own forniture, with which to make, not the knives and knives that his ancestors made, such as goat knives, tranchetes, of headbands, stilettos, etc., but modern, current, designer knives, mount knives, much more perfect, founding the company Arte Mudela SL in the year 2021.
