This folding knife is made by Rousselon Dumas Sabatier, an important French brand and knife manufacturer in Thiers since 1852. My grandfather's "Petit 32" is the re-edition of the Dumas Aîné knife taken by Paul Rousselon, grandfather of the current cutlers. In 1908, during a professional trip to Reunion Island, Henri Rousselon, son of the company's founder, presented a pocket knife, made by his father, to the cane cutters he met. This “knife”, with its iconic shape, thus introduced to the island, was quickly adopted by the locals and achieved great success. Passed down from generation to generation, the inhabitants of Réunion nicknamed it my grandfather's Prit 32.
