The Otter Bergmann 180ebe knife combines the artisanal traditions and innovations of the regions surrounding the renowned city of Solingen in its design and is the perfect everyday companion. The Bergmann is inspired by one of Otter's earliest models, the Webermesser. The carbon steel blade, with its razor-thin point, evokes its original use in the textile and ribbon industries of the Bergisches Land region. The compact, rounded, black ebony handle evokes the coal of the Ruhr area. The Fat Carbon (copper) ferrule evokes coal seam formations. These reminders of the diverse roots of the region from which Otter knives originate come together in this model, entirely handmade in Solingen, the German city of knives. Selected as "Knife of the Year 2025" by the cutlery magazine MESSER MAGAZIN in the pocketknife category, the Bergmann took first place.
