Don José Expósito Picazo was born into an important family of cutlery artisans, the Expósito, among which stand out his grandfather Bartolomé Expósito López, his father José Expósito Fernández, and his uncles Juan, Bartolomé, Isidro and Alejandro Expósito Fernández. All of them work first in workshops like Ricardo Zafrilla's to later establish their own workshop on the Miraflores road in the Cerrico neighborhood. The Exposito have worked and work with mastery, typical artisan knives and knives of the city of Albacete. At the age of 9, José Expósito Picazo goes after school to that family workshop, adjacent to his home, to make faithful, and he uses the summers to help his father and children in the workshop, which contributes to his forge as an apprentice cutler. After military service, José Expósito Picazo joins the Expósito workshop and performs the functions of toolmaker and designer. In 1977 he obtained his first prize in a craft competition. At the age of 30, he leaves the family workshop on the road to Miraflores and settles alone on Tejares street. In 1984 he moved to two warehouses on Granada Street and achieved notable success with the design and manufacture of a brass stylet. A year later he establishes the factory «Halcón». From then on, a new industrial movement was created that was renamed "sports cutlery", along with other cutlery manufacturers.
All of them revolutionize the market for hunting knives and pocket knives with the introduction of a complete line of sports cutlery. In 1992 he settles alone on Avenida II of the Campollano de Albacete industrial estate, where since then he has continued to manufacture industrial cutlery, without forgetting crafts, and participates in cutlery fairs and competitions in which he obtains numerous awards. José Expósito Picazo presided over the APRECU cutlery and related association between 1990 and 1996. Currently, José Expósito Picazo runs a new factory in the Campollano industrial estate and produces a magnificent tile knife. His facet as a craftsman has been more able to do so than his entrepreneurial vocation. The experience and good work accumulated in the last 35 years by José Expósito Picazo has been recognized through the awarding of innumerable prizes in the different editions of the regional cutlery competitions in Castilla-La Mancha. In this regard, it is worth mentioning the first nineteen prizes obtained between 1983 and 1987 in the categories of "Best mountain knife", "Best free-standing knife" and "Best Albacete classic knife".
