The quality and antiquity of the Nontronesa cutlery is due to the richness in mineral and iron of the Nontron area, also crossed by a river of clear and fresh waters called Bandiat that is ideal for the tempering of its steels. In the area there is also abundant boxwood used in the handles of their knives, which is also a material that is highly resistant to wear. Nontron cutlery is one of the oldest in France, along with Laguiole models, it has evolved slowly but has retained its original materials. The engravings present in the handles of each of its precious knives, are marked red hot always keeping its horseshoe shape symbol called "Fly" a legend today in the world cutlery.
