Its origins and inspiration date back to the post-World War II era, when European knife manufacturers ceased mass production of the *Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser* (the Hitler Youth field or utility knife). During the 1950s and 1960s, the Argentine company Biselcorte S.A. (alongside local competitors like Filtemple) utilized the German model's basic design, morphology, and tooling to adapt it for the Argentine civilian market.

It became an immensely popular tool among members of Argentine Boy Scout troops and young campers throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Today, it is considered a valuable collector's item. Many collectors seek it out both for its national historical significance and because it represents a direct adaptation of European military tooling for South American civilian life.
