Zubi-Ondo Camping Axe Second Hand

Zubi-Ondo (officially Zubiondo, S.L.) is an iconic hand tool brand founded in 1939 in Ermua (Biscay, Basque Country). For over 80 years, it has excelled in the manufacture of hand tools (axes, open-end wrenches, pliers, hammers, and clamping or cutting tools). In the late 1980s, it was restructured into an employee-owned company (*Sociedad Laboral*) driven by its own workforce. Subsequently, the brand and facilities became part of local industrial groups, such as Urlaplast. Its axes—Zubi-Ondo axes, traditionally bearing a distinctive stamp on the forged steel head—are renowned for the quality of their forging, their durability, and the Basque tradition of cutlery and tool making.

There was a close collaborative and subcontracting relationship with Aitor (Cuchillería del Norte). Both companies shared a strategic geographic location in the industrial hub of Ermua (Biscay). While Cuchillería del Norte (Aitor) focused primarily on manufacturing pocket knives, as well as sports and combat knives, Zubi-Ondo possessed the facilities for heavy forging and the stamping of hand tools and axes. Manufacturing for Aitor: To round out its catalog of outdoor, survival, and camping tools (such as the famous bushcraft or camp axes marketed under the Aitor brand), Aitor turned at various times to local workshops specializing in tool forging. Zubi-Ondo acted as a manufacturer and supplier of forged parts or complete axes, which were subsequently branded or finished with Aitor’s distinctive markings and sheaths. Important: this item comes from a collection; it is in good condition—though not perfect—and is exactly the same item shown in the photos.
