The Opinel Nº09 Ocean is highly versatile: it features a durable 9 cm semi-serrated stainless steel blade for cutting natural or synthetic ropes without tearing them, and includes a shackle wrench. Its polyamide handle is resistant to water, impacts, and extreme temperatures. It is equipped with a whistle and a lanyard hole, as well as a hardened steel marine punch for untying, separating, or working ropes without cutting them.Designed for sailors and sailing enthusiasts, the Nº09 Ocean is a robust and technical knife, made in France.

The handle is injection-molded with fiberglass-reinforced polymer, ensuring high resistance to impacts, water, and extreme temperatures (-40ºC to +80ºC). Integrated ball-less whistle in the handle (works in all weather conditions) with a power of 110 dB and a range of approximately 300 meters in open space.

Invented by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring is featured on all folding knives from size No. 6 onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety of use), it also allows the blade to be locked in the closed position (safe transport).

The stainless steel used in OPINEL knives is an optimized grade to guarantee both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance. The blade has an excellent edge and high abrasion resistance, allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials, such as ceramics, before needing to be resharpened. Stainless steel has the advantage of requiring no maintenance under normal use, unlike carbon steel. However, it can reach its limits when it comes into prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent, etc.).
