The History Knife & Tool anchor knife has been an international classic of Christian sailing since the 19th century and has been produced in Solingen, Thiers, and Albacete ever since. Its French name, "Le London," suggests that it is primarily associated with the great British seafaring nation. It is quite likely that it was also manufactured in Sheffield, or even originated there. All traditional anchor knives share the following features: a seawater-resistant ebony handle, a solid brass anchor with elaborate inlays, a parrot-beak blade optimized for working with ropes, a simple piston-locking mechanism, and a steel bolster. The History Knife & Tool anchor knife also features a practical lanyard hole, which prevents it from being hopelessly lost overboard while working on deck. While more recent versions use a stainless steel blade, the History Knife & Tool anchor knife uses the tried-and-tested German 1.4116 cutting tool steel.
